John Hagee's Strange Fire

San Antonio mega church pastor John C. Hagee is a well known evangelical leader, but it’s what you may not know about John Hagee that might surprise you. For example:

Did you know that John Hagee flatly refuses to preach the gospel to Jews and is on record stating as much?

His warped theology is known as dual covenant theology and is a satanic lie. As Dr. David Reagan well said this false doctrine “is one of the most convoluted forms of anti-Semitism because it is willing, in the name of love, to allow millions of Jews to go to hell”.

The Houston Chronicle reported:

“John Hagee, fundamentalist pastor from San Antonio and friend of Israel, is truly a strange fish. … The man has a mission. He’s out to attack anti-Semitism. He also believes that Jews can come to God without going through Jesus Christ.

The Houston newspaper then quoted Hagee’s own shocking words: “I’m not trying to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith.”

And further revealed:

“In fact, trying to convert Jews is a ‘waste of time,’ he said. ‘The Jewish person who has his roots in Judaism is not going to convert to Christianity. There is no form of Christian evangelism that has failed so miserably as evangelizing the Jewish people. They (already) have a faith structure.’ Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity, he says.”

Needless to say the inspired words of the Apostle Paul clearly refute John Hagee’s perverse and demonic false doctrine.

Did you know John Hagee divorced the wife of his youth, an act which absolutely disqualifies him from continuing in the office of pastor?

Personal Freedom Outreach reports:

There are moral and ethical concerns with Hagee and a serious question as to his being biblically qualified as a pastor and teacher are not the main issues of this article. However, one very important factor should be noted. The Liberty Flame reported in May 1994 that during the time when Hagee was serving the Charismatic congregation at Trinity Church (1976) in San Antonio, he divorced his wife, resigned and married a young woman in the congregation, Diana Castro. Custody of Hagee’s two children by his ex-wife, Martha, went to her.

In a letter to the church, Hagee admitted immorality, which later became part of the court records in the custody battle. Martha later also remarried and started another family. Not surprisingly, there is a hiatus from 1976 to 1987 left out of Hagee’s web site biography.

The meaning of the phrase “husband of one wife” in 1 Timothy 3:2 ought to clear up any controversy of whether a pastor can be divorced or not. There is nothing mysterious about the Greek phrase used here which simply and literally means “one woman man.”

Did you know John Hagee is a word-faith teaching, positive-confession espousing prosperity pimp?

John Hagee frequently makes heretical statements to the effect that when it comes to “giving” YOU determine what God can do based on your “gift”. In effect his false doctrine turns the Almighty into a heavenly slot-machine who, if you hit the right combination, will spill out temporal fortunes which you can’t contain. Pastor Hagee bases his heretical teachings from a few selected OT verses in Malachi and Psalms which have zero basis in, or relevance to the church. Friend, God is not a mechanistic impersonal divine slot-machine, He’s a personal and loving Creator Who desires a relationship, not a temporal quid-pro-quo exchange of goods and services.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6)

For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. (Psalm 50:10)

Did you know John Hagee allows unbelievers and apostates to preach from his pulpit?

John Hagee frequently allows unbelieving Jews to speak to his congregation from his pulpit during Sunday services. Imagine for a moment that instead of an unbelieving Jew Pastor Hagee invited an Islamic Mufti, or a Buddhist monk, or a Hindu priest, would that be okay? Or how about a good old fashioned Catholic liturgy from the pulpit at Cornerstone Church? After the service would Hagee’s starry-eyed, brainwashed hangers-on gush over the adoration of the Eucharist and the beauty of the monstrance? Would they drive home joyously singing songs of praise to “Mary, Queen of Heaven”?

The unbelievers are bad enough, but one would hope that even the least discerning professing Christian could see the problem with having a non-Christian preaching from the pulpit of a supposedly Christian church! Nevertheless and never one to be outdone – even by himself – John Hagee parades a pantheon of apostates across his pulpit representing the entire abominable doctrinal spectrum of aberrant, heretical, and unorthodox beliefs. Kenneth Copeland, Rod Parsley, Jesse Duplantis, and Oneness Pentecostal heretic T.D. Jakes who denies the doctrine of the Trinity are all welcomed with open arms by the charlatan “Pastor” Hagee.

I’ve got to tell you, after what I’ve learned about this shameless spiritual snake-oil salesman thus far I’m half expecting at any moment for John Hagee to set up a gigantic metallic idol with outstretched arms on his stage, feed it with coals until it glows white hot, and then demand that his congregation to bring their newborn babies down front and place them into the fiery hands of his pagan god in order to obtain “the blessing”.

John Hagee is a theological train wreck, a type of unholy Frankenstein’s monster produced by the modern apostate professing church who is unfit to be called a pastor or a preacher. In point of fact he’s a shameless spiritual prostitute of the lowest order and a disgusting parasite on the true Body of Christ; a biblical bottom-feeder who ought to be roundly and soundly rebuked by true Christians everywhere.

  1. So I guess he thinks the Pharisees were saved? Hmmm. I wonder how he explains Matthew 15:24–“But He answered and said, ‘I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.'”

  2. Hey Fourpointer,

This Hagee maverick has always preached a different weirdo gospel; only second place to apostasy behind Copeland and TD Jakes. Wasn’t it about nine months ago or so when Hagee announced the advertisement of a new book in which he declared, “Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah”? I think the name of the book it was In Defense of Israel. Has Hagee ever read the Book of John much less the entire gospels?

Also according to one of Hagee’s television segments, Hagee claims according to Genesis 18:1-33, in the plains of Mamre that the Lord did not visit Abraham. Hagee claimed that the three were just run of the mill angels….. In my Bible, chapter 18 of Genesis, the Lord appears eighteen times, and where in the Bible has an angel been allotted the authority of life and death? I wonder where did Mr. Hagee get the information, whereas an angel can determine the judgment of life and death of man on his own authority? I thought judgment belongs to God.

  3. Has anybody spoke to John Hagee about what they publicly posted on the internet? If not, I believe you are the one in error. Matthew 18 says if you have ought with your brother go to him, if he does not listen take two or three with you, if he still don’t listen then take it to the church. Have any of you followed this procedure? Or have you uncovered your brother and exposed his nakedness. I believe Noah’s sons where cursed when they looked upon there fathers nakedness when he was drunk. If a brother is over taken in a fault, then we are commanded to restore in a spirit of meekness, not in a critical or haughty spirit.

  4. Bob,

That passage in Matthew 18 refers to someone who has sinned against us, for example if they steal from us, or lie about us, etc. This is not talking about someone who is blaspheming against God or His Christ. That is dealt with in Romans 16:17-18–17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. If someone is saying blasphemous things about Christ–such as, Jews don’t need to believe in Jesus–then we are to warn people about that person immediately.

Hagee was not “overtaken in a fault,” he spoke against our Lord Jesus Christ, and deserves an open rebuke. We’re not being “haughty,” we are being true to our Lord.

  5. Greetings Bob,

This guy is so far out that Senator McCain chastises him for his weird beliefs… I agree with Fourpointer, how can you not openly rebuke someone that teaches another gospel, another jesus, and another holy spirit, which St. Paul outlined in 2Corinthians 11:3-6? Fine examples: (1).Jewish people have a separate covenant and therefore they don’t need Jesus unto salvation. (2). and let us never forget that Jesus never told the Jewish people that he was the Messiah, according to Mr.Hagee, (he needs to read John 10:22-42).
I have emailed various questions to his ministry in Texas asking about his beliefs and his Bible twisting without a peep from anyone…. Bob, if you feel lead to take a swing at it go ahead and send him a question and see if you get an answer? But I ask you to send him a legitimate question or two such as # (1). If you write any of the WOF gangsters an email and ask, “If you will send me an answer I will send you two-grand”? I am sure someone’s drone will send you a verb, an adjective or two…. Bob, then you will receive an answer to your question.

  6. Bob,

Since fourpointer has already summarily dismantled your baseless and unscriptural complaint I won’t kick through the smoldering ashes to see if there’s anything remaining.

I would note in passing however that your disingenuous secondary offense tactic is frequently employed – with similar success – by the Warrenite apologists when their meal ticket…er…um…I mean “pastor” is exposed as the shameless spiritual prostitute that he, like Hagee, truly is.

    In Christ,
    CD

  7. Good exposure. The issue with the divorce and remarriage is not a light one. For someone who promotes God’s covenant with the Jews, Hagee doesn’t honor his own covenantal vows to the Lord in his lifelong commitment of marriage.

  8. Dear Writer,
I am not an American nor do I live in America. We have different cultures & different languages. What we do have in common is that we both are Christians. Reading your article has made me think of my life and the effects of the consequences of every person’s actions & decisions. I do not know much about john hagee except that his tv program on TBN is aired in my country. & I do not personally know you. But while reading the article it made me feel that you are so clean & I am so filthy. The emotion from the article is hate & not at all about correcting a fellow Christian or even about telling the truth about somebody. It was just to personally attack someone without giving him the right to air his side of the story. It seemed that you don’t even want John Hagee to be a Christian. I could not help but feel that if you know my past that you won’t accept me as a Christian & that I shall not be allowed in your group. From the viewpoint of a non- Christian who could have read the article & might watch John Hagee on TV some time, the article may stop that person from accepting Christ because the one inviting him to Christ was john hagee. Death happens everyday. We don’t know if that person we affected will have another chance to get saved. Our actions we think are right at the time we do them even as Christians sometimes contribute to someone else’s loss of chance. What if I were to tell you that I was a prostitute, had several abortions, have said , done things & committed crimes I am so ashamed to say? Perhaps the article is right, that John Hagee is not qualified to preach the gospel & be a pastor. But I am more guilty than he for the things I have done & I deserve to go to hell. In other people’s standards I surely do not deserve forgiveness or a second chance. I even know that I do not deserve God’s grace & mercy. But the Holy God through Jesus Christ, has forgiven me as He has also forgiven the apostle Paul for the killing Stephen & others. He has also forgiven David for his affair with Bathsheba & for murdering Uriah. For the time left that God has given me to live, everyday I am so grateful for His grace & for changing my life. It is a wonderful privilege for me to come to know God & his word more and more each day while a lot of people around the world cannot. To share the gospel to others sinners like me becomes the main reason for living. I know that my sins have consequences that can never be changed & that has & will continue to hurt me & others affected by them. I shall live with that knowledge & pain everyday of my life. But the important thing is God freed me from those sins. I must constantly live the way He wants me to live from now on. It is NOT through John Hagee, any other preacher, the church, vast knowledge of the bible, through you or through me that people get saved but through Jesus Christ alone. I do believe God can use us to reach those in need of Him in spite of our pasts. Christians are not immune to sin & to the devil’s deceit. We should always examine ourselves first, or we fall in danger of intellectual & spiritual pride. We should always do things from GOD’S MEANING OF LOVE. We must study, view from other angles & perspectives, desire GOD’s TRUTH- above our own thoughts &opinions. Let God be the judge of ourselves & of others. I thank God, that it is He & not people who is ultimately the judge. He is just & righteous & it is right if He deems me guilty & I go to hell. He is still just & righteous if he declares me forgiven me & grants me mercy on judgment day.

    • Lea,

Thank you for stopping by here at DefCon. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, recognizing your sin against a holy, righteous God, and repenting from that sin, then we rejoice. That is the only way one becomes a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism, good works, saying prayers, going to mass – none of this will merit any saving grace.

I believe if you really knew the writer of the article that you would not be able to make some of the statements that you made. He would vehemently disagree that he is “so clean” while you are “so filthy” merely by the reading of this post. The fact is that before God, we are all undone. The very best that we can do is as filthy rags. There is no person who is righteous, not one (Romans 3).

This is not about being allowed in our group either. This is about understanding the truth of Scripture and standing firm on those grounds. Any person who has truly come to faith in Jesus Christ is part of the body of Christ. DefCon is NOT a separate group whereby you must gain some special admission or whereby you will gain special privileges with God. Besides, it is NOT a matter of whether we accept you as a Christian, but whether God truly sees you as one of His children. Everybody in the world is not one of God’s children, but only those who are saved.

Here at DefCon, we believe that it is a humbling responsibility to warn others of the dangers that are found in so-called Christianity. We do not personally hate John Hagee, any more than we do Benny Hinn, the pope Benedictus XVI, or Joel Osteen. What we hate and warn others of is the fact that these individuals are teaching heresy of the rankest order – heresy that is clearly defined by the truths of Scripture. We also recognize that true salvation does NOT come from the invitation of Hagee, Osteen, Hinn, or anybody else (including any contributor to DefCon). Salvation is the sole remit of Jesus Christ, Who alone offers that through the work of the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit does not convict the heart of sin and make that person a new creation in Christ – there is NO life in Christ, and therefore, no salvation!

It would not matter whether you were a prostitute, had several abortions, killed anybody, etc. You are making the mistake that there are levels of sin with God. Jesus Christ Himself said that just hating somebody is the same as murder. Looking with lust is the same as adultery. EVERYBODY is guilty before God. But by the grace of God, He chooses to redeem unto Himself a people whom He cleanses, purifies, justifies, sanctifies, and prepares them to a Bride adorned for Himself as the Groom Jesus Christ. NOT ONE of us deserve that. We all deserve eternal damnation in the lake of fire (hell).

But God in His great love and mercy sees us as clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ when we are saved! He redeems us and the sin which we were guilty of was placed upon the Perfect Sin-bearer (Jesus Christ) so that we stand no longer condemned before the Judge of the Universe.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

If the Lord has redeemed you and you belong to Him, then you had to come to Him no differently than I did when I was studying in college to enter the ministry. Neither of us are any more deserving than the other, no matter what sins we committed. God chose us to salvation and this He has done despite ourselves, despite our mockery of His Son for so long, despite our sin. He has written our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

This is the reason that we take the stand we do against people like John Hagee, Osteen, Hinn, the pope and others. Their teaching is contrary to the clear teachings of God’s infallible, holy Word. They condemn people to hell with their warped terms of coming to Christ to obtain salvation. We must warn as did the Lord Jesus Christ, the apostles, and the early church against heresy. There is no truth to viewing God’s Truth from different angles and perspectives. We must look at God’s Word as the sole truth. It is not debatable, and it is NOT able to be changed to suit the times or the preacher.

To conclude, yes God is the ultimate Judge. However, when He declares us righteous, we are righteous forever. We did nothing to gain eternal life, and it is certain that we can do nothing to lose eternal life. He is just and righteous, and He must punish sin. He will either punish you for rejection of His Son, Jesus Christ; or, He will see you as righteous, clean, and pure because of Jesus Christ. We will remember you in prayer. Feel free to ask further questions if you so desire, or if something has not been clarified to your satisfaction.

  9. It is very sad to me that so many people who claim to be Christians fall under the spell of mega church trappings and snake-oil salesman’s “prophesy” and “charm”. It is like a pep rally for the christian who wants to feel superior without any due dilligence.

My big problem with many Christian pastors is their avoiding the issue that the Jewish Baylonian Talmud claims our Jesus Christ is a bastard child of a prostitute, with a Roman soldier as the father and no relation to their King David. (See “Jesus in the Talmud” and “Discovering Judaism”.) Not only does it try to spread lies about all the important points of the gospel, it further continues to blaspheme our Lord in ways I will not elaborate on, and to support lies, deception, cheating and murder of non-jews. I cannot believe that Christians would support a nation based on these rabinical teachings that so directly oppose the teachings of Christ, nor give special treatment to dual citizen Israelis if they knew the facts.

Dr. Martin Luther wrote about this very bluntly, and although I do not want to stir up emotions, but feel we need to understand exactly who we are dealing with in the world outside of Christianity and not support the ungodly based on trickery and ignorance. I don’t believe that all Jews are Talmudic Jews, but many leaders, including Rahm Emanuel, are and there are common rituals that promote an elitist attitude to the non-jews.

This “feel good” christianity supports a spiritually illegitimate sate of Israel along with murder and all the other crimes involved in this politically driven religion. If the congregation would just read the scripture for themselves, they would find it very hard to justify Hagee’s interpretations.

Christians should grow up and accept responsibility for knowing the Bible well enough to counter false teaching. God Bless Us.

  10. After seeing Hagees vedio on how he feels about the Messiah…theres no wonder he seems to have so much pride, maybe God will open his eyes to the truth. But alinnig ones self with the likes of those who would use the Gospel for money is never a good sign…

  11. to be honest idk what to think, im going to say anything bad about hagee,i listen to him alot bc i was concerned and divorce and remarrage, seeing now he was divorced and remarried blows my mind alil, not saying he might have had the grounds by god to divorce and remarry his wife now idk.is there any preacher out there that can live by the gosple only? instead they confuse me and idk what to think anymore.

  12. DONT TRY TO REASON THE EVENTS WITH YOUR (OUR) LITTLE MINDS.
GODS WORD SAYS “MANY WILL COME IN MY NAME BUT I KNOW THEM NOT.”
IT ALSO TELLS US TO DECERN THE SPIRIT
